Naturopathic Medicine is a distinct profession of primary healthcare that integrates the science of contemporary, evidence based medicine with the wisdom of traditional healing methods. Naturopathic Medicine is governed by the following principles: The Six Principles of Naturopathic Medicine
What is a Naturopathic Physician? Naturopathic physicians (ND’s) are primary care providers who have graduated with a doctorate degree from an accredited four year naturopathic medical school. Naturopathic medical schools have admission requirements and coursework comparable to those of conventional medical schools. Naturopathic Medical students complete the same basic and clinical science courses as conventional medical students. In addition to this standard medical curriculum, ND’s study clinical nutrition, counseling, homeopathic medicine, botanical medicine, physical medicine, exercise therapy, and hydrotherapy. Naturopathic Physicians are licensed and board-certified through rigorous national and state board examinations. For more information visit the American Association for Naturopathic Physicians website. What Can Naturopathic Medicine Do For Me? Depending on your health goals, Naturopathic Medicine can help you lose weight, increase your energy, overcome emotional blockages, improve numbers on standard blood tests and a variety of other things. It’s also common for people to have their skin improve, look younger and get their vibrant ‘glow’ back. As your health improves using basic healing principles of nature, many people find that many other aspects of their life improve as well. How much does it cost to come see you? Although I'd be happy to assist with insurance requests, it is currently not possible in the state of Maryland. I will be happy to provide proof of medical costs that may be submitted to your insurance company to request coverage. Most people find that natural medicine can be used as a tax deduction. Overall, natural medical care is much less expensive than conventional care when considering, copay, insurance costs, prescription costs, and cumulative care costs. Do you see acute patients? We do not see people for acute care cases. We recommend you see your primary care physician or go to the emergency room for acute care. What do I need to do go get started as a patient? Please see How To Get Started. What makes your detoxification program different from others out there? Our program is much more than the laxative based, “colon cleanses” available in health food stores or the juice fasts found online. The primary difference in our program is that we address numerous detoxification pathways (liver, kidney, gi, skin, mental/emotional), while simultaneously attempting to decrease inflammation in your body. This is accomplished in a number of ways:
